Mike the Mango

This week my belly is obviously preggo to the public. Two random ladies at Whole Foods tonight wanted to rub it for good luck and the crazy TSA agent who patted me down at the airport this week had to talk about how much smaller her daughter is and she's further along.... yep, thanks TSA for making me feel like a hippo.

Overall things are busy but good. Starting to plan the nursery (more details soon) and Laura, "my mom big sis" is giving me a tour of the very large and intimidating Babies R US tomorrow so I can start to register.

This week we're calling our little man Mike the Mango in honor of his future uncle. Here are some details from babycenter.com on what's going on in my big ole belly at 23 weeks:

Your baby's sense of movement is well developed by now and he can feel you dance! And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as a dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
