I receive weekly emails from babycenter.com so I know what to expect with this crazy pregnancy week to week. Strangely my favorite part of the email is not that our baby now has fingernails or eyelashes its finding out what fruit or vegetable is comparable in size. Then, I'm embarrassed to say, John & I debate what the baby's name should be that week. Well, in honor of our good friend Tonya's birthday, this week was easy - Tonya the Turnip!
Here is much more useful information on what's going on with baby W at 17 weeks...
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — the lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and is around 5 inches long from head to bottom. Your baby can move their joints and sweat glands are starting to develop.
