Sammy the Squash

This week has been pretty eventful. John & I went through a range of emotions watching our baby on a flat screen during the 3D ultrasound. There were cheers when we saw his "bait & tackle" so happy to have definitive proof, laughter when we saw his still developing, slightly monkey-esque face and ohhhs & awwws watching our little man show off with some big yawns and chewing on the umbilical cord.

So we're at week 22 and we're calling him Sammy the Squash since babycenter.com tells us he is 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. Sammy is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.
