More tomatoes are starting to grow!

We're fortunate to live next door to a great family, the Binghams. John & Patrick Bingham actually go way back, all the way to elementary school and its comforting to know you have friends you trust near by to watch your house, in case of emergency, etc.

Anyway, the Binghams and the Weisbarths have a small patch of land in between our two houses and we started a little garden box. When I say "we" let me make sure to emphasize that I did nothing but John, Patrick and his wife Jenny planted lots of fruits & veggies with the hope to not kill everything and maybe end up with something edible. What none of us expected was how exciting this garden box would be for the Binghams' two adorable boys Charlie & Jack. They run outside everyday to check the progress and start cheering when they notice something new is sprouting.

Well tonight we had our first "harvest"... one strawberry, one cherry tomato and a squash that our neighbors, who also have a garden, snuck in to surprise the boys. Seriously one of the best strawberries I've ever had.

By the way, have you heard about Michelle Obama's new book - American Grown? I think we might need it on our coffee table now that we're officially gardeners.
